Superstars come to Plantation

There is a large population of superstars that make their home in Plantation. In fact, the city is or has been the home of National Football League players, Major League Baseball players and other famous folks. For instance, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Chad Henne has a home in Plantation. Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier and New Orleans Saints cornerback Josh Robinson also have homes in the area.

However, probably the best-known former resident of Plantation was Candace Cameron Bure, better known as DJ Tanner from the television shows, “Full House” and “Fuller House.” Ms. Bure resided in Plantation from 2001 to 2015 with her husband, former NHL pro hockey player Valeri Bure.

Plantation has the world’s largest drive-in movie theatre

The drive-in movie theatre was once a popular fixture in many American towns, but many of them are now only a memory. However, the Florida Swap Shop is keeping those memories alive.

Originally opened as the Thunderbird Drive-In Theatre in 1963, the Florida Swap Shop has 14 outdoor drive-in-style movie screens, and this makes it the largest drive-in movie theatre currently in operation in the world. But, movies aren’t the only thing to do at this entertainment destination. The facility also includes a gigantic daily flea market with more than 2,000 vendors selling a vast array of products. There’s also an on-site fresh produce stand and daily carnival you can visit.
